plug independent music awards.

This is our second year involved in Plug, and we cannot be
happier to be a part of such an awesome thing. If you haven't

About PLUG:
PLUG is a collection of music lovers - writers, DJs, webmasters, bloggers, artists, filmmakers, managers, indie retailers, and most importantly fans - who gather together each year to celebrate the artists who live and flourish in the margins.
The PLUG Independent Music Awards is about the independent community coming together to recognize its own and about the bands we all devote our lives and careers to champion. For us fans, it ain't about the scans or the scrilla, it's about the music. It's about the artists who inspire and the music that disrupts the artistic and corporate mediocrity that dominates our culture.
We discover these records in magazine blurbs, fanzines, in recommendations from our local record store clerk, in IM conversations, links from friends and passionate testimonials overheard in line outside a club... PLUG, for us, is the experience of trading mix tapes with friends. Our goal is simple. We all know that when we hear these great records that as revolutionary and even sublime as they sometimes are, they too often won't get the recognition we hope & fight to give them. PLUG is about coming together and giving them that recognition. The most satisfying thing for us has been to see how often fans of one artist have become new fans of another... and so on.
PLUG recognizes that there are talented, important, artists whose careers develop on major labels. Although many of these artists are forced to fight their own upstream battles within the large companies that adopt them, there are opportunities and resources afforded them that only large companies can provide. PLUG devotes its resources to those artists, labels and media who operate outside that market share.

What is Fringe Benefits?
Fringe Benefits is a marketing and event planning & production company specializing in the entertainment industry.
Our humble beginnings began in a basement in Chelsea.
Ok so it was Serena bar at the Chelsea Hotel and it is a beautiful bar, but still!
It is a basement (albeit a plush one).
Fringe benefits sprung from the streets of New York City as a weekly party for people working and playing in the independent music industry. Every Monday we took back the night from 7pm-midnight at Serena bar, beneath the beautiful and historic Chelsea Hotel. Fringe soon spread its love all across the city.
Fringe Benefits holds events across New York City and beyond. We specialize in planning events for the music and entertainment industries. We take marketing to the streets. Our contacts are numerous and we know that party planning can be stressful-that's why you should let the experts handle it!
